Zoo Animal
Everywhere I go
there are eyes — nowhere to hide
so I use my body, and curl up inside
walking and talking dead-eyed.
Where is she? they all ask
rapping sharply on the glass
A case of constant trespass.
Do something, they whine
It’s entertainment time.
But they’re in a long line —
expectations too high, and I’m
just trying to climb
Into solitude to reinvent
my attitude; simple and crude —
I need to seclude to polish
my ineptitude. I’m just a beast
after all — fallen from gods, still
trying to crawl into standing tall.
